Two miles or so to the east of Newcastle is the small town of Wallsend. The remains of this 12th century church is kind of surreal as its right in the middle of a council estate.Directly behind me are rows and rows of terraced houses ,so it’s strange to see something so old in an urban setting

  1. For sale….Detached dwelling house in need of a degree of refurbishment. Open plan accommodation with breath taking views over Wallsend. Good vehicluar access, with added feature of advertising hoarding in the front garden providing potential rental income. This unique property would suit DIY enthusiast, of member of the Sealed Knot.

  2. It’s good that they preserve it. One could never imagine it seats in the middle of the estate, it looks more like it’s somewhere remote.

  3. It you didn’t mention the council estate, I would’ve reckoned this was somewhere in the country far from the prying eyes of suburbia.

  4. I beg to differ but the church is not surrounded by a Council Estate , I lived for many years in Deneholm , one of the so called Terrace Rows , and spent many hours of my childhood playing among the ruins.
