armstrong park-shoe tree (8)WP.jpg

Look closely at this picture.Yes your right…they are shoes in that tree…in fact there are hundreds of pairs of shoes all over quite a few trees in Armstrong park.At one time it was the shoe tree…now it’s definately,’trees’. I have never been able to find out the history behind how this all started but its quite a shock when you first see it!

  1. Looks great … now I know where that lost pair of shoes went. Thanks for sharing.

  2. That was weird. I was looking at your blog and it just changed in front of my eyes from the old one to the new one. Nonetheless I like the new format a lot, very clean, photos nicely displayed. Liked the recent photos too, of the old church, the three men.

But about the shoe trees, they do that in the US too. And also over telephone poles. Having never felt the urge to do that myself, I’m not sure why.

  3. Cool tree photo. Re. the shoes: students, no doubt.

  4. A picture that reflects the photographers sole!
I have no doubt that heel be pleased with this one.
    Bootiful!

  5. I was always told that a pair of sneakers in a tree or on a phone wire, in New York City, anyway, indicated that a drug dealer was nearby – it’s how he marked his turf.

  6. Although I think that might just be an urban legend, come to think of it!

  7. a shoe tree? LOL!

hope you’ve been able to sort out your wordpress issues.

  8. Wow, what a great photo. Cool =)

  9. Lol that is so cool! There’s one in Edinburgh just like that, but last time I passed, I noticed that it’s been joined by a tree sporting men’s boxer shorts!!!!! I’ll be posting those photos soon on my blog. :)

  10. Carol – tell me where!? i’ve never seen it. Cool tree Chris – can only guess at what it’s meant to signify. love it!
