‘Swans in Flight’ by David Wynne can be found in the Civic Centre courtyard. The man pictured told me that there was a little duckling around the back of the sculpture and really wanted me to take a photograph of it! He was such a nice guy and his wife was cute too. More on the ducklings tomorrow!
The best graffiti that i’ve ever seen is on a little side street in Heaton, off of Warwick st.

I’ll be posting loads more people photos now that everyone’s out and about. Check out all the kids at Northumbria Uni square!
The weather here has been most pleasant lately, hasn’t it!? Everywhere you go, there are loads of students laying out in the grass, older folks in suits taking lunch breaks outside and there are so many people laying around in the parks, like this fella who took an hour nap!
Out for a walk the other day and I came across this drain that had a bunch of VK tops around it. I wonder where they all came from.
The woodlice spider, Dysdera crocata, is one of the few british spiders who has fangs that can penetrate our skin. Luckily, it usually uses them to pierce the armour of its favourite prey, woodlice (hence the name) instead. Apparently humans can have an allergic reaction to the bite. It is often found in gardens in damp places were woodlice are found, like under stones and logs. They are nocturnal. We found this cheeky little creep in the kitchen a couple of days ago. No sign of more, thank goodness!
If you walk along Victoria Rd and the RVI and glance up, you’ll see this view of the Armstrong Building, which houses the following:

-Newcastle University Business School – School Office, Accounting and Finance, Management
-School of Historical Studies – School Office, Classics, History
-School of Marine Science and Technology – School Office
If you stand looking at the gates of China town facing away from St. James’ Park, you will see this “ad” on the wall just behind the town wall. Everyone loves Jack!
A friends father works here, at the St. Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth. Sometimes known as Newcastle upon Tyne City Asylum, it was founded in 1864 and opened in 1869. The building is still in use as a mental hospital although it must have undergone many alterations as 3 different architects, William Lambie Moffatt, of Edinburgh (1864-9), Arthur Benjamin Plummer of Newcastle upon Tyne (1886-8) and James W. Dyson of Newcastle (1892-6), are mentioned in the early years.
