I can’t believe I’ve not shared a picture of the Millennium Bridge yet! Anyway, here’s one taken last Saturday when all those kids were down for the Evolution Festival. If you look closely, you can see the bajillion or so people crossing.

Swirle Pavillion, newcastle, uk

Swirle Pavillion – Raf Fulcher 1998
Location – Promenade
Materials – Stone, Concrete, Metal
Commissioned by – TWDC

Both a sculpture and a building, the Swirle Pavillion appears to be a folly for the Quayside. It has the names of various towns carved around the inner rim taken by the artist from a faded sign at Plummer Chare and were the destinations for a local shipping company. The pavilion takes its name from a hidden stream, which flows into the Tyne at this point. Raf Fulcher teaches at Sunderland University.

He just got the message and I think it’s great, so today’s post is brought to you by Bente from Oslo Daily Photo. (http://oslodailyphoto.blogspot.com)

Located adjacent to St Nicholas’s Churchyard in Newcastle Upon Tyne is a mystery which has remained unsolved for a number of years. What is the mystery? It’s the strange animal which stands guard over the doorway into an office block.

No one seems to know why the Vampire Rabbit sits in a Newcastle back lane but there is a story that the rabbit is actually a ‘hare’, during renovations of the building several years ago, the ears were accidentally knocked off and inadvertently replaced the wrong way around.

If anyone was near the quayside the Saturday before last, you would have noticed the throngs of people around for the Evolution Music Festival. And with loads of people comes loads of rubbish… It was all over the place.

Has anyone else seen these randomly posted around town? This one is near the Morrisons in Byker. I like how fun and irreverent they are!
