Tyneside Cinema

Tyneside Cinema, newcastle, uk

The man who built the Tyneside in 1937 thought a film should be an event and set out to design a picture palace, complete with mosaics and oriental decoration, which began the job of transporting you out of your everyday from the moment you crossed the threshold. They believe that he had exactly the right idea and hope you’ll see that the new Tyneside Cinema is made to be more than just a soulless place to see the latest flicks.

  1. I used to love my pot of tea and toasted tea-cake with loads of butter and jam.

    Is the cafe still there?

  2. From the website, http://www.tynecine.org/indulge/

    Three Characterful Cafes

    Intermezzo Coffee Bar

The home of Newcastle’s finest cocktails and coffee is on the ground floor of the Tyneside on Pilgrim Street. With its pavement café on High Friar Lane, Intermezzo offers a great snack food menu, superb pastries and classic cocktails.

    The Tyneside Coffee Rooms

A local legend is reborn. The Tyneside Coffee Rooms has been on the second floor of the Tyneside for more than 70 years. Its mix of comfort food and genuinely warm-hearted service has made it a favourite of Newcastle café life young and old. It’s back, better than ever, and open longer hours too!

    The Tyneside Bar

The Tyneside Bar is the new kid on the block, situated on the third floor of the building. You can buy your cinema tickets up here (avoid the queues downstairs) and a range of excellent wines and beers, coffees and teas and cinema snacks. Anything bought here can be taken with you into The Roxy and Electra screens.

  3. Thank you Cassandra.

I have been to the website and its wheelchair friendly – so I can go – yippee.
