River Tyne, looking west

Most people, on reaching Newcastle by train, look east to see the bridges.  I can’t deny it sends a shiver down my spine to see that iconic sight.  But by doing so, you miss out on looking west.   And it’s quite a view – especially when the light’s like this and you can barely see the Redheugh bridge.

  1. I love this shot; thanks Beth! Dave

  2. I love this shot too!

  3. Whenever I head home I still always go over the Tyne Bridge. I did this even when I was heading from the south and visiting friends in Gateshead. Go past, over the bridge, turn round and come back again before stopping.

Last time I walked it (literally – all the way from Monaco). Landed at the dock on a ferry from Holland, with the Strawberry by St James’ as my end point. I still diverted and walked across the bridge before finishing!

  4. Glad you like the shot, Dave and Gordon.

Mosh, you are slightly crazy, but I think you knew that already, no? In the nicest possible possible way :)

  5. I always look towards the bridges too. I will look the other way next time I come to Newcastle, next Saturday actually. Yippy!!! Ciao. Antonella
