Central motorway

The Central Motorway is a whole 2 miles long. It’s a nerve shredding piece of road. I know it quite well now, but with entrances and exits on both sides it requires an awful lot of confidence to drive on.
I didn’t know until just now that it’s the UK’s only double-decker motorway. The path I was on when I took the photo goes above the southbound carriageway and below the northbound.
For more information on the Central Motorway click here.
And click through to the BBC for a gallery of my favourite shots from 2008. These are my favourite shots posted last year – what do you think?

Ahh! The nightmare that is the Central Motorway. The person who designed this road clearly never thought about it. Did they ever try driving on it through the rush hour? Probably not. Another great picture, I have never seen it from this angle. Thankfully you didnt capture me going past when you took it as I close my eyes around about this part! LOL!
Ummm maybe it was a good thing I didn’t drive when I lived in Newcastle?? lol !!! Thanks for another great shot Beth….yet again I am homesick again for my ’2nd home’….oddly even a central motorway makes me homesick? lol Cheers!!!
Nice picture Beth.
Please can you help me get in contact with Mark Beeny. You must have his e-mail. The only thing on the internet for Mark Beeny Newcastle is on this site, Fenwicks window christmas 2007.
