St Peter’s Basin

This is taken at St Peter’s Basin, looking east towards the sea. I was amazed when D, my husband, took me down here. The usual views of the Tyne are those in Newcastle, with all the bridges, or the mouth of the river between North and South Shields. I had no idea this little world existed.

Tim of timmonet has some lovely pics and interesting discussion here, and the website for the Marina behind where I was standing to take this shot is here.

  1. Beth, lovely photo. We looked at the basin when it was being built and thought we could live there – found out price and thought maybe not.

Go to other end – past the Copthorne and keep on walking – the renovated riverside walk is a relevation and you get to walk under the King Edward and there is loads of free parking on the road. So you can park and then walk along the pathway.

  2. Good one Beth thanks…

and this ‘little world’ you’ve discovered is not unlike my little riverside world at Hebburn – will send you a couple of pics!

  3. mrs k – yes it’s just a little out of our range too….!
