  1. I look at Cheeky Duck and I think “Burger King”. Must be the font.

  2. Chinatown must be even better at night with those lanterns lit. Isn’t there a pub called “Rosies” near the corner? (it’s always about the pub!) Quite a colorful and interesting bar I remember. Wonder if it’s still there….?

  3. Looks nothing like BK to me mosh ;)

ash – yes! i’ll get a pic of Rosie’s next time I’m around ;) for the lanterns see here and just for the hell of it here :)

  4. Chinatown my Chinatown, I love it. It is just about the only part of the city where the shop fronts enhance the buildings rather than the other way round as we saw a couple of days ago with the awful Phones4u facade. I love looking in the shops and restaurants during the day but it really comes alive at night.

In my younger days Rosie’s Bar was known as the Darn Crook and Rosie was at some time the landlady.

  5. Beth-thanks for the additional night photo’s…Chinatown looks great in the evening and I’m getting hungry just looking at the pictures.
I really like this site-I learn something new with each visit. Rosie’s was a busy pub the last time I was in……now I feel like a pint! I’ll settle for a photo, Beth…. someday…cheers!

  6. Alf, I didn’t know Rosies was named after a landlady! Good comment about the shop fronts.

  7. I’m hopefully headed to the Cheeky Duck this coming week, weather permitting!
Chinese roasted pork + Char-Siu pork with rice…. yum, yum!

  8. Alf, that’s really interesting about Rosie’s – at the Heritage Open Days I heard about lots of pubs that ended up renamed after the landlords – the two that spring to mind are Joe Wilson’s (as that’s where I met my future husband!) and Balmbra’s, but apparently there are loads! One more to add to the list :)

You’re welcome Ash – thank you!

Dave, it’s true about the shop fronts isn’t it?

Mike – hope you enjoyed it!
