Barker and Stonehouse is where I’d like to do my furniture shopping. Maybe one day…..
Detail of the Central Arcade. Luckily no one is even thinking about demolishing this!

The Odeon is supposed to be on its way out soon (although I first heard that a few months back and it’s still standing – much like that Get Carter car park, which is still somehow standing). Anyway, I wanted to post a detail of the building while it’s still there. I remember (just) when the word Odeon was spelled out in here. Sad to see them still rusted and empty all these years later. I wish the building could be rescued, but failing that they should put it out of its misery.
These buildings are on the Gateshead side of the river. Taken from Newcastle.
The Claremont Buildings are opposite the Civic Centre and next to King’s Gate on Percy Street. (and on this first photo you can see a sliver of the Great North Museum – also known as the Hancock Museum.)
