Two picture Sunday – St Mary’s Chapel

I LOVE the stained glass. I guess maybe the people who take care of or worship at this place put it in. I can’t imagine it’s original (although I’d love to be proved wrong). It’s amazing.

It’s still a site of pilgrimage. I guess these have been left by worshippers.
More information can be found here and, as ever, on timmonet.

Beth, I think your guess about the stained glass window is probably right as I have just looked at a picture taken in 2007 and it wasn’t there just a hole in the wall. Thanks for the series of pictures they are excellent.
thanks alf! i love the stained glass, it’s amazing.
These are amazing. I love the shrine.
Doesn’t look like 14th c. to me, either. THanks for reminding me of this place! I’d almost forgotten about it, just as you managed to llok the wrong way for so long. One of the hidden gems of Newcastle.
thank you randy!

The stained glass window panel is wonderful and the shrine picture I love too….it has an emotional reaction for me.
