Archive for February, 2011
I took a short cut through the Newcastle University campus the other day and spotted this mysterious pear, surrounded by spring bulbs. It was behind Northern Stage. Any idea what it is or why it’s there??
Is it still Grey Street this far up? It is according to google maps. Anyway, these are some of the buildings that were reflected in yesterday’s picture. Lovely.
Continuing yesterday’s footwear theme, Kurt Geiger isn’t a shop I frequent (can’t afford it and I’ve never been all that bothered about footwear – well, except Doc Martens), but I liked this reflection of the buildings around Monument in the late afternoon sun.
Inside the Grainger Market again, and this is Scorpio shoes. Well worth a look next time you’re passing, if you like Doc Martens and ‘interesting’ footwear!

Alf asked for pictures of the inside of the Grainger Market, so here we go. This is Oliver’s Cafe. The man at the end holding the menu catches me unawares every time I walk past!
This is the last of the shots taken at sunrise on the shortest day, looking downriver. It was a beautiful morning.
I’m so sorry I’ve been so flaky with shots recently. I’ve been struggling with everything. I can cautiously say that I’m doing a little better now and am optimistic that I might keep up a little better. Posts for 7-8 February will hopefully go up tonight (8th Feb).
Currently 21 weeks pregnant and the baby seems to be doing fine. Please keep everything crossed for us that this remains the case. Thank you.
The Baltic as seen through the struts (is that the right word?) of the Millennium Bridge. Again taken before sunrise on the shortest day.
This is All Saints Church which can be found just up from the Quayside. I visited once (photos can be found somewhere on here, I will be forever grateful if someone can find the link) during the Heritage Open Days and it was well worth a visit, lovely church. I’m glad it’s being used as a church once more.
This shot was again taken before sunrise on the shortest day, 21 December.
Well, I was going to say that I don’t go to Blue Coyote (on Pilgrim Street) very often but that when I’d been I enjoyed it, but I just found out that it’s closed! Apparently it’s coming back though, although there’s no idea given of when or whether it will be in the same place. Anyone know why? Is it to do with the redevelopment of Pilgrim Street that has been rumoured for what feels like decades? I haven’t made it down to that end of town in a while.
Lovely building though, isn’t it?
