Quiz Day 7 – Five Swans and sign

five-swans

I wasn’t sure whether to do the quiz for five days or seven. But you all seem to have enjoyed it, and I’ve enjoyed doing it, so I decided to do seven :)

Well done to Peter (and honourable mention to dougbowski once more; you do seem to know everything!) – for the answer to yesterday’ question, namely that the new Wetherspoons pub where Luckies and Paris Texas used to be is called ‘The Five Swans’ after this statue.

onwards

Today is the final day of the quiz, but if you’ve all enjoyed it I’ll do another one soon? Where can this sign be found? And what is it?

  1. The corner of Warwick Street and Stratford Road, Heaton. ^_^

  2. Is it the shop on the corner of chilli road and simonside? I know they’re from an art project about 15 years ago and there was a few different ones made along the no. 1 bus route but no idea exactly which one this is!!

  3. Not quite, but pretty close! If noone else gets it I’ll give you the credit :)

  4. Mike, don’t know why but your comment went into the spam trap – well done, you’re spot on!

  5. Sorry – just realised that Mike commented before you but his comment went into the spam trap. Still, I’m impressed by how many questions you’ve got right – do you really know everything or are you just good at googling?? ;)

  6. Don’t know everything, just a good memory and been really lucky with the questions. After looking to see why the five swans was called that about a month ago that lead me to your site with the info about the sculpture, which linked to the civic site. Victoria tunnel we tried to book a few months back and there’s a similar sign to today’s on simonside where a mate lived as a student!

  7. Good chance I’ll get nothing in the next quiz you do!!

  8. Fair enough! I’m very impressed anyway :) And I expect you to get at least one or two next time round :)
