Westagte Road.
Walk down from Guitarguitar and take a right at the first corner, brings you onto Westgate road. Looking from the city centre towards Westgate hill in the distance. There are some more of those “green twiddly bits” that get mentioned from time to time and also the ‘other’ gold clock. There are two of these in the city centre. The first is in the very centre of town attached to Northern Goldsmiths. (I know there is an image on this site somewhere but I cant find it-sorry. ) This one has a rather scary recent story to go with it. The bottom of the clocks are made of concrete and the one shown here fell out and missed a man by about two foot! He would have definitely been killed if it had hit him. I would have linked to the newspaper report if I could have located it.

That sky highlights the white and it really looks good.
And of course, anything with my beloved ‘green twiddly bits’ gets my vote anyday.
Glad the concrete missed the bloke and pleased they repaired the clock.
mrs K–I owe you an apology! I have no idea why I though they were flowers on those trees. This link gives the answer to what they actually are… http://instagr.am/p/TheX3/

…great shot lad.
By the way I put some comments on the Gossy shots the other day, but they’re not on now! And the site had a white background. Humm.
So many memories of Westgate Road. Five years of travelling up the hill to school on the trolley bus if the trolleys didn’t fall off or walking up if it snowed., trolley buses didn’t work well in the snow or any other condition. Ours was probably the only school in the region where you didn’t need an excuse for being late, if it wasn’t cattle on the Redheugh Bridge it was problems with trolleys and it helped that most of the teachers didn’t have cars and travelled on the same buses so could confirm our stories.
Dave-I have no idea whats happened there–Beth?
Alf-thats a great story- thank you.
No apology needed Chris, but thanks for the info. I think I now know which tree it is – but can check with the photo.
Sign of a hard winter too. Not neccesarily snow either – just hard.
