Was passing by one evening and even though I was in a hurry I stopped to take this.
The entrance to the Old George pub, just off the Bigg Market. I’ve only been into the pub once, I think, but I really liked it. Should make my way down there again one day soon…..
This is the tower of the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas. If you ever get the chance to climb the tower, do it! It’s an amazing view – and even being at the top of the tower itself is amazing.
This was taken from Eldon Square car park at the same time as the shot from a few days ago. You can see the dome of Monument Mall, the side and back of Emerson Chambers (the Waterstones building), and Grey’s Monument. The big white building to the right… I think that’s 55 Degrees North, is that right?
You all know I love my reflection shots. Took this coming out of the dentists! If only the bin was situated a few feet to the left….
I do love the Civic Centre. I didn’t used to be so keen. But after I went on the tour on the Tyne and Wear Heritage Open Days a couple of years back, I really changed my tune. What do you think?

What do you think of the new look? It’s thanks to Dougbowski, a regular commenter here, who took pity on me and has generously taken on hosting for the site as well as producing the redesign. It looks tons better than before. Thank you so much.
I’ve been holding off on posting until everything was moved around – it’s taken a bit longer than I anticipated (and then I had a sick baby so didn’t realise the work had been done!) but I am so grateful to Dougbowski for taking it on.
Today’s pic is the Castle Keep. I’m looking forward to getting out and about and taking more pictures for you all
