There in the centre is the wonderful John Dobson’s Market Keeper’s Lodge. Dwarfed a bit by all the modern buildings but lovely nevertheless.

I have fond memories of the Old George back in the 60s and 70s but it has been a long time since I visited the place. Perhaps I should rectify that the next time I am in the town.

Might have mentioned it before but it was run for years by my partner’s brother in law’s mother. The brother in law and his brother grew up while living in the hotel.
