On my post from Wednesday ‘anonymous’ mentioned in the comments that “Dog Leap Stairs” was were Bessy Surtees escaped with her lover in 1772. This magnificent building was where she eloped from. There is a GREAT PLAQUE on the wall,giving brief details. Go here for more information on BESSY SURTEES.
