The Sage is definately one of my favorite buildings in the whole area.Ive heard it called the ‘Slug’,or even the ‘Rollercoaster’ among many other names. I call it the ‘Armadillo’. Whatever you want to call it,I think its beautiful. (left click and press F11 for a better view) An INSIDE VIEW here.

I like it…nice modern slug!
the sound quality inside is brilliant, both on stage and in the audiance. with three music halls and a selection of practice rooms its a good looking and useful building. alli
wow ! unique building and love the reflections :) Great shot !
Fabulous building!!!
Nice shot but as a born and bred Geordie who likes the older building on the Quay got say I hate the Sage, it’s a blot on the landscape or a slug on the Tyne, let’s hope the fog hides it!
We noticed it last September when we were passing through Newcastle on the train. The building seemed to leap out at us.
My wife called it “The Slug” without then knowing anything about it at all.
Our Scottish friends told us that the building was the Baltic Arts Centre, but seemingly that is not the case.
It looks like a slug but a very shinny one…is it made of glass?
thats just so beautiful!! what type of music is played there??
That’s just gorgeous….looks like it could the headquarters of the galactic federation of planets. Super cool
Anne-yes,glass and metal.
Heva–you never did have any taste!!
Cynthia–a bit of everything from classical to folk to jazz to rock. And of course world music.
Markandrew–lol–it does look pretty ’spaceship’ like!
Fotoaddict–they aren’t reflections–thats the design of the building–what you see is the inside.
