These yellow hybrid buses were introduced about three years ago, linking the quays of the river Tyne with Newcastle and Gateshead. They weren’t very popular at first, but are now used much more frequently. If I’m down on the Quayside and can’t face the incredibly steep walk back up to Northumberland Street, I’ll hop on one of these. More information here, or for the timetable go here.
(You can tell the photo was taken on a Sunday from the sign just to the right of the bus saying the road is closed. It’s closed for the Quayside Market that takes place every Sunday.)

I use these buses every week day, they’re great;
I work on the Quayside and can never be bother to walk up the hill/steps at the end of the day.
Hi MichaelA - I don’t blame you, I’d not walk all that way every day either!
