The snow is making everything look sparkly. This is an old postbox in Jesmond - Osborne Avenue to be precise.
The snow that fell on Monday night/Tuesday morning hasn’t thawed yet.

about Snowy postbox ... posted by Beth
I’ve been checking some of the webcams of the area and it’s looking beautiful! I can’t believe I’m missing all that snow! :(
Wow, how cool to see they still have the old postbox’s.
It’s a Penfold pillar box - the standard model that was current between 1866-1879. I only know this nerdy sort of thing because my ex-husband passed his photography O Level exam with a black and white photograph of that very postbox.
Great blog, by the way!
Jorgelina it would be nice to be able to walk down our drive without being scared of breaking my neck! It’s pretty but dangerous.
Jafabrit this is the only one I know of that’s this old. Cool though innit?
Thanks Rachel - and THANKS Rachel! I’ve never been able to find anything out about it (granted I haven’t tried all that hard). Glad you like the photies :)
Beth, I know that! My fiance slipped on ice the other day on his way to the Metro! It’s all looking so beautiful, though, and I’d never had a winter Christmas in my life! We are always roasting ourselves over here! Besides that, I just wish I were there, I miss looking out my window and seeing the Man with the Cats and his cats on lieges walking over the fences, or the Ginger cat sleeping on the roof. Of course, they are probably not doing that at the moment with all that snow! lol I’d looooooove to see St. Mary’s Lighthouse in the snow as well!
Great images, Beth! Thanks for posting them! :D
It was even scarier this morning. It was wet snow that then froze and I was terrified walking anywhere at all.
When are you back? Before Christmas? Hopefully we’ll have a nice snowy Christmas too….
Glad you like the pics :D
I don’t know when I’m coming back…hopefully in a couple of months. *shrugs* I’m glad I can stay in touch through blogs like yours and live webcams. I really like Newcastle, it’s a very nice place to live. I’ve always dreamt of living by the sea, but never thought I’d be to move anywhere near the sea over here…and then my fiance came along all the way from Newcastle! :D Maybe I’ll leave by the sea some day! =)
