This mosaic in Byker is just off Shields Road, near the East End Pool and Library. I’d never seen it before my last trip to Byker.
It’s a shame about the litter.

That’s something a bit different! Nice to see.
I remember going to see the Byker Wall about 30 years ago! It started raining and my windscreen wipers broke!
What a pity about the litter! It’s a shame folk don’t take pride in their surroundings. The mosaic is lovely.
Beauty and skill can be found in the most unexpected places. You have an ‘eye’ for it and so does Cassandra.
I can remember that the ’square’, was originally meant to be filled in with another building, but they
discovered part of Hadrian’s Wall underneath. So decided to make it a public space instead.
By the way, off-topic… just discovered that the advert for Warbutons with the Japanese business man, was filmed in Newcastle! Argos last year, and Warbutons this year!

I thought things looked familiar!

I would have removed the litter
Remember, Keep Britain Tidy
Beautiful mosaic! Shame for the litter. But it can be easily tidied up, can’t it? I wish people would respect their environment, regardless from their age! Ciao. A.
Martin C, that sounds about right :) Glad you like the pic!
Edith Yes.
Mrs K, I’m going to come over all shy! Thank you for that. You are very kind to us both :)
Mike, I didn’t know that! Thanks! I’d seen the Warburtons ad and love it :)
Ashtonian, when I got home and saw the pic on my PC my thoughts were: should I chop the litter off the bottom of the shot? And why on earth didn’t I pick it up? Although I think I would have got some very funny looks. I walked home from Asda a couple of weeks ago and was shocked by all the litter you don’t notice when you drive. I keep meaning to go back and pick it up, but I’m not brave enough. Yet.
Antonella, I live in hope that things will change….
