  “We hope to have the Monument available on the mornings of the 21st March, and 4th and 11th April. We will contact you when the dates are confirmed and bookings open.”

  Just think of the old joke about the monument as you climb.

  A Texan visited Newcastle and everything that he was shewn, his only comment was, ‘we got bigga and betta in Texas’. When they walked up Grey Street the Geordie Guide never mentioned the Monument. The Texan said ‘what’s that’, the Geordie replied, ‘the salt pot for our fish and chips’.
