“We hope to have the Monument available on the mornings of the 21st March, and 4th and 11th April. We will contact you when the dates are confirmed and bookings open.”
Oh I do so hope you all make it to the top and then post pictures.
It will bring back so many memories for me - oh are not I a naughty old biddy - wanting you young ones to refresh memories and enjoy.
Just think of the old joke about the monument as you climb.
A Texan visited Newcastle and everything that he was shewn, his only comment was, ‘we got bigga and betta in Texas’. When they walked up Grey Street the Geordie Guide never mentioned the Monument. The Texan said ‘what’s that’, the Geordie replied, ‘the salt pot for our fish and chips’.
OK so its old and probably not PC now - but then I am the first and not the last but trying - very.
Lovely shot.
Dammit I’m getting nervous about posting again ;o)
My favourite monument! Any news about climbing to the top? I’m ready when you are!!!! Ciao. A.
Is this the monument I am seeing when they have a sky shot in the series Wire in the Blood?
Imagine if this happens!…

I’ve heard this from Newcastle City Council:
“We hope to have the Monument available on the mornings of the 21st March, and 4th and 11th April. We will contact you when the dates are confirmed and bookings open.”
I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything else.
Dave
