It’s incredibly difficult to take a decent picture in the Tyne Tunnel. You’re moving, you’re in a car, the air - I feel that word should be in quote marks - is smoky, you have no time to get it right. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but without repeated passes through the Tunnel I don’t think I’m going to get a better grab than this. For more pics - travelling from South to North - see my flickr photostream.
Thanks so much to Cassandra for giving me a break last week! I’ve had an awful lot going on recently - nothing wrong; just me taking on too much - and a little space was just what I needed. I really enjoyed seeing someone else’s perspective on Newcastle.

Welcome back, Beth. Your experience of the tunnel is better than mine. Every time I go through I could have all the time in the world to take a shot as it is always bumper to bumper. I think you have captured the Hell that is the Tyne tunnel. I always go the long way round if I can.
I tried to take the Dartford Tunnel yesterday & it didn’t come out very good. Having a mucky windscreen didn’t help.
Thanks Alf! It’s not the most pleasant experience in the world, is it?
Gails man - no that never helps! :)
It was great to see the TT used for this:
