St Thomas Crescent is just off St Thomas’ Street. According to google maps, the street has the apostrophe and the Crescent doesn’t. But if anyone knows better I will gratefully acknowledge :)
I believe that St Thomas Crescent was used as the location for Tony Hill’s home in the TV adaptation of Wire in the Blood.
I wish I could afford to live here. Lovely road, central location, and the Trent House would be my local!
I think I’ve replied to all the comments from the couple of weeks or so now. Thank you all for being so understanding.
Oh - and I’ve added an ‘about newcastle upon tyne daily photo’ bit over there on the right. There are only two questions so far - what else would you like answering?
Edited (again) to add that there’s been a vote for Britain’s ‘most picturesque’ street. The Shambles in York won - deservedly, to my mind - but Grey Street came in third after the Royal Crescent in Bath. Full story here… I saw the story on the BBC this morning and meant to post it but completely forgot, so thanks to my dad for emailing it to me just now :)

and handy for town too.
Great street and location, i love this place .. i used to life in Leazes Terrace during my master.. which is next to this street…. what a lovely place what a lovely city… i wish i can spend the rest of my life in Newcastle….
This is quite an elegant address- this area is very near the hospital, am I right? Within easy walking distance to town. Not surprised The Shambles in lovely York voted the most picturesque city in Britain…..the entire town of York is certainly very picturesque and happy to hear another of my favorite elegant streets, Grey Street came in at a close third. Now I’m going to check out the new ‘about Newcastle Upon Tyne Daily Photo” :)
Definitely CGP!
Glad you love Newcastle so much mai :)
Ash - yes, that’s right; very near the RVI. I love the Shambles too, but Grey Street is nearer to my heart.
Beth, the apostrophe seems to be optional now as I think we have discussed before. If one is St. Thomas’ then they should all be but I remember a good friend of mine consulting me about the apostrophe in St. Thomas’s church at Boldon as it had always been known. After much consideration the parish council decided to rename it as The Church of St.Thomas. Diplomacy or cop out? Back to the picture, the crescent looks magnificent and I must have walked past it many times walking up St. Thomas’ Street to the RVI to visit my granny but I have never noticed it before. It is nice to learn something new about my favourite city.
I always liked this street too. The biggest disdavantage to living there would be that it gets a bit busy on match days!
