First posted on April 27th of 2008, these forget-me-nots are in the Newcastle University quadrangle.
I see them around Michigan and instantly I forget-Newcastle-not. They bring back very happy memories.
Does anyone go by there and know if they’re there this year as well?
(also, I’m sorry I didn’t post this weekend. Our internet is all haywire and I never got the message from B! :( It’s nice to have a break, hopefully B has had a chance to recharge! <3 you, B!)

Hello Cassandra…lovely picture. Now… doesn’t that just say, Spring has definately sprung?
Those beautiful blooms make you smile….. :) !
Hi Cass I dont know about Newcastle, but in my garden (Gateshead) I have an abundance of colour this year.
I think the severe winter held back the growth, and then it all came at once MikeM
Mine are all budding and many more of them than usual. Can’t wait for them to bloom fully.
Speedwell, is in full bloom.
The winter sure played havoc. But its great, everything coming out together. More flowers on my crab apple tree than ever.
Cassandra, you are a star. Beth keep on hanging on in there.
What a beautiful picture. I would be very surprised if they are not still there as they keep on reseeding and multiplying. The only thing I seem to have a bumper crop of is dandelions. I swear I pulled everyone out by the roots last weekend but they are all back.
Alf,
A weed is a flower in the wrong place. I let my dandelions bloom. Then when the become a ‘clock’ - off with their heads. Maybe my name should be the Red Queen!!
I also thought I would tell you all how the forget me not got its name.
There was a long queue of flowers for waiting for God to give them a name. He got to the end of the queue and there was the very first flower again. What has happened he asked, the little blue flower looked up and said, ‘I am sorry I forgot my name, can you tell me again’. The answer was you name is now ‘Forget Me Not’.
Viola or Violet top right hand corner please?
Lovely pic Beth, and mrs K - i think it’s a viola.
