It was forecast to be 25 degrees in Newcastle yesterday. (Centigrade, not Farenheit, for any Americans out there.) I think it was probably that at least. I was boiling hot. I don’t think it’s been that hot all this year before today. I took J for a walk down to Jesmond Dene in the late afternoon. It-was-beautiful. Although pushing the pram back up the hill was pretty hard.
Some more pictures from today on flickr.
I’ve decided to do the next quiz starting on Monday - get your thinking caps out and ready!

Sorry for anyone who was expecting Wednesday’s pic to be Quayside Seaside #2 - I got slightly confused about the date and it seemed a shame not to post yesterday’s pic on the relevant day!
This is the ’sandpit’ - unfortunately after the volleyball net and deckchairs had been taken away. I actually walked past last week and completely missed the whole thing. Probably says something they don’t really want to hear about the whole thing……

Today (it’s still before midnight, shut up!!!!) is the 162nd anniversary… of Queen Victoria opening the High Level Bridge.

These plaques, however, are in Central Station. I’m not quite sure what’s going on there! I found some discussion of it on SkyscraperCity here but it doesn’t seem to come to any actual conclusion.
Two more pics on flickr.

I managed to miss this Quayside Seaside business until the very end - I was down on the Quayside yesterday and they were taking away the trees :( - but I’m still torn between thinking the idea is genuis and completely insane. ‘Come for the famous Geordie welcome, stay for the tropical climate!!!’ ?????!? Who the hell came up with that one?!
Another pic tomorrow….
Oh and I’m gutted to report that Sunday was the last day for the Grey Street Garden too :(
