I wanted to have an FAQ. But no one asks any questions, so I thought I’d answer the questions I wish we were asked. If there’s anything you’d like added to the list, please shout!
Where’s Newcastle?
It’s in the north east of England. Near the seaside, near the countryside. Plenty of decent sports. Plenty of decent arts. Incredibly friendly people. Great rail connections, if you want to come visit. Can you tell I love the place?
And what on earth are these ‘green twiddly bits’ I keep hearing you all talk about?
Heh. Dave, a regular commenter on the site, saw this picture and commented that he loved the ‘twiddly green bits’ on the top of the building. Next thing I knew, it’s become a thing. See also this post and this one.

Thanks! But that’s a slightly complicated question. This site contains photos by three different contributors as well as various guest contributors. Take a look at the post in question.
If the photo was contributed by a guest, sorry, but we can’t contact them to ask for permission. You can always try commenting on the post in question to see if the person whose photo it is sees and responds to you, but that’s about all we can suggest.
Don’t steal. It’s not nice, and sooner or later we’ll catch you.

Hello all, it’s a nice surprise to find this website. I’m originally from Los Angeles, California - but had the pleasure to live and work in Newcastle & Gateshead between 1997 & 2005. I attended both Newcastle and Gateshead Colleges, then worked for various companies in Tyneside. I have greatly enjoying viewing the photos, as they show how much Newcastle has been developed since I left 6 years ago. I see that Gateshead College has developed a Baltic Campus, which seems to be a huge improvement over the old campus on Old Durham Road. I also see that the Newburn Business Park off Scotswood Road has been completed.

Discovered your site recently and mighty impressed! Though I’ve lived in north east almost all of my life your pictures and comments are splendid.
Familiar old or new sights are often shown in a new and interesting light. There’s even some that I’ve never seen before.
