November 13, 2011 - Stateside Diner-two picture Sunday

Directly behind where I was standing yesterday you can go and get some great food from my favorite place to eat, Stateside Diner. The food here is fantastic, and I am such a regular customer they all know me by my name. I have even done a photo shoot with one of the girls that works there (and been turned down by a couple of others!)  The atmosphere is great and the retro feel is backed up by the music on the jukebox. The young couple I snapped where about to enjoy the pancakes (highly recommended) and I’m guessing from the straw he is about to enjoy a milkshake. If you want a great meal and good service then I highly encourage you to get here as soon as you can (but don’t bother if your on a diet!)

Well this is my last picture(s) from my two week guest spot. I have really enjoyed been back on here and posting images from my favorite city and my adopted home town (I moved here 29 years ago). Thank you to Beth for letting me loose and I hope I’m posting again sooner rather than later.

November 12, 2011 - Pink Lane

As you walk down Forth lane, you very soon come to Pink Lane.Look right and you will see….well you will find out tomorrow. Look left and you will see the Forth pub(with the tree on the wall) and various buildings that house accommodation and offices. At the very bottom of the street you can just make out a Greggs and opposite that(you cant see) is a Subway shop too. Over the road you can just make out the front of Central Station. The gentleman in the shot was quite funny. He stopped so he wouldn’t be in the shot but I made sure he was. I thanked him and he wandered off shouting “I didn’t want to ruin your picture”!  You didn’t sir.

November 11, 2011 - Forth Lane art.

Opposite where I was stood yesterday is the very small entrance to Forth Lane. This can easily be missed if you’re not aware of it. It leads to the Forth pub and one of my favorite streets, Pink Lane. As you walk down Forth Lane this art work appears on your right. I find this sort of thing fascinating even if I don’t like the art(although I do like these drawings). The artist has even written on the art work “To buy my work or just leave a message go to pimpartworks.com. Go to moving gallery to see my portfolio”. Thats how to advertise!   There is some very cool photography on this site too.

November 10, 2011 - Westagte Road.

Walk down from Guitarguitar and take a right at the first corner, brings you onto Westgate road. Looking  from the city centre towards Westgate hill in the distance. There are some more of those “green twiddly bits” that get mentioned from time to time and also the ‘other’ gold clock. There are two of these in the city centre. The first is in the very centre of town attached to Northern Goldsmiths. (I know there is an image on this site somewhere but I cant find it-sorry. ) This one has a rather scary recent story to go with it. The bottom of the clocks are made of concrete and the one shown here fell out and missed a man by about two foot!  He would have definitely been killed if it had hit him. I would have linked to the newspaper report if I could have located it.
